Backyard Begins to Take Shape
Once the trees were removed, the ground (including stumps) was cleared and fresh loam laid and leveled. You will also notice Dighton Rock II was moved to the back of our property line. The 20'x20' section that has no loam is where we intend to place a playset for the girls sometime before summer 2010. Once the set is built, I will box it out with 4x4's or 4x6's, then back fill with a few inches of pea stone. The seed was placed just yesterday and has been watered twice each day. We expect to see grass popping up next week, and we should be able to start walking over it by the first full week in October.

Cool Kid
I was cleaning the floor after lunch when Sarah walked up behind me. I swept some more food into the dust pan (aka - food pan) and turned around to catch Sarah wearing her Red Sox cap backwards.
After I took this photo, the cap came off her head and she wanted some help getting it back on. I instinctively placed it on her head, brim forward. WOW -- that was the wrong thing to do. After a couple of choice words from her simple vocabulary (I'm glad I don't understand her yet otherwise I'm sure she would already be grounded until she was 12 years old), I reversed the cap and all was right with the world. A moment later, Sarah was in front of the oven door admiring herself in the reflection of the glass.
